Buns decorated with crosses had a long history which may have dated back to the 6th century Greece and was steeped in both Paganism and Christianity influences.
It is believed that the “modern” hot cross bun was developed by a monk in St. Albans, England, in the 14th century for distribution to the poor on Good Friday – they were called the Alban buns. Centuries later, though the tradition of eating them for Easter is still strong, the hot cross buns are available and can be enjoyed throughout the year.
To guarantee the ultimate freshness, our bread products are available for pick up only.
